Kenneth D. Long, 79, of Terre Haute passed away on Friday, February 3, 2023. He was born February 9, 1943 in Terre Haute. Kenny proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a truck driver for many years, driving all over the country. He was an avid Elvis fan, enjoyed doing yardwork, and also went to the gym daily for as long as he could. Most of all he was a family man and a devoted husband. His grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and recent great great-grandson were his greatest joy. Kenny loved his dogs as they were his children. He was a simple man but lived life to the fullest. His family described him to be like a toasted marshmallow, burnt and hard on the outside but soft and warm on the inside.
Kenny is survived by his sons, Bill Long (Emille) and B.J. Martin (Nancy), daughters Lannie Purdy (Rick), Kirsten Anderson (Scott), Callie Youngblood, Tawnya Hubinger, and Shannon Jach (Kevin), nineteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren, one great great grandson, sisters Dora Hoopingarner and Martha Maxey, and his beloved dogs Poncho and Toto. He is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of 39 years, Pearl "Nadine" Long, and son Junior Long.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at Samaritan Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Memorial service will be at the funeral home beginning at 4:00 p.m. Online condolences may be made to www.samaritanfunerals.com.
