Kenneth Allen Long, age 75, of LaGrange, passed away on August 9, 2025.
Ken was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on November 12, 1949, to the late Edgar Allen Long and Montye Swisher Long. He graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University and spent most of his career as a national sales manager for Mead Corporation. He retired to Hilton Head, SC, and shared his love of the island with family by canoeing, bike riding, and going to the beach when they visited.
Ken was charismatic and had a quick wit-startling his kids when splashing an oar in the water and yelling "alligator"-and was always the first to join (or start) a conga line. A reformed Yankee, he was happy to see the Eagles win the Super Bowl last year and passed on his love of SEC football to his children, often recapping games and discussing predictions as the season began. Ken was an avid golfer and was proud to have scored six hole-in-ones. He loved his constant canine companion, Cowboy, who provided many hugs, tail wags, and kisses over the last 12 years.
Survivors include his wife, Charleen Hardegree Long; his children, Christopher Long (Karen), Kathryn Long, and Megan Jinnah (Nadium); his stepchildren, Jennifer Lemming and Judd Lemming (Carrie); grandchildren, Ethan and Brady Long, and Kiran Jinnah; step-grandchildren, Tripp, Griffin, Sadie, and Cade Lemming; his mother-in-law, Charlsie Hardegree; sister-in-law, Jackie Cowart; as well as many extended family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his loving pups Charlie and Lizzie, and we're pawsitive he's enjoying seeing them again.
The family will hold a graveside service at Elim Baptist Church Cemetery in Newnan, GA, at a later date.
