Kenneth Lundy Obituary

Visit the Bertrand Funeral Homes (Bybee & Davis Funeral Home) - Knoxville website to view the full obituary.

Kenneth Eugene Lundy was born on February 9, 1948, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, to Park Edward and Lilly Elizabeth (Milledge) Lundy. He was raised on the family farm southeast of Tracy, Iowa, where he developed a lifelong passion for farming and community.

During his time at Twin Cedars High School, Ken was a dedicated athlete, participating in football, basketball, and baseball. After graduating, he remained on the family farm before serving his country in the United States Army from 1968 to 1970. Upon returning home, he worked at Clow Valve in Oskaloosa for several years.

On April 28, 1973, Ken married the love of his life, Karen Stevenson, at the Dallas United Methodist Church. In 1978, they moved to their current farm southwest of Knoxville. Together, they not only farmed but also worked the night shift in housekeeping at the Knoxville Clinic for 20 years.

Ken had a deep love for the outdoors and simple joys—growing and savoring sweet corn and tomatoes, mushroom hunting, fishing, and he loved watching his son Ryan race and sports events for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. A lifelong athlete, Ken played slow-pitch softball as a shortstop well into his 60s.

Above all, Ken was a devoted family man who treasured time spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and siblings. His steady presence and love will be missed beyond measure.

Ken passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025, at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines, at the age of 77.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Park and Lilly Lundy; his brother, Keith; brother-in-law, Steve Parker; and granddaughter, Jena Wilson.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife, Karen; children and their families: Hope and husband Dave (Lilly Renfro, Caleb Bennett, and Tristan Bennett); Jill and husband Mike (Jacob, Nick, Rachel, and Cole); and Ryan and wife Andrea (Kitt, Heston, Cael, and Carson); great-grandchildren: Ainsley, Rhettley, Kaizley, Ivorley, Blakely, Alex, Delilah, and Royce; sister, Donna Parker; and many other extended family members and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Columbia United Methodist Church.
