Kenneth Jay May, 69, of Eminence, gained eternal rest on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Kenneth was born Wednesday, February 2, 1955, in
Logansport, Indiana to the late James N. and Nancy A. (Fisher) May.
Kenneth had been a resident of Morgan County since 2017, spending most of his adult life in
Pittsboro, Indiana. He was a graduate of Winamac Community High School, where he was a member of the High School football team. In recent years, he was a member of the Eminence Harvest Festival.
He was a transmission specialist and retired from Skillman Corporation. After retirement, he continued to master his skills at home doing the work he most enjoyed. He undoubtedly had a love and talent for restoring and repairing automobiles. He was an avid race fan, including NASCAR and Indy Car racing, loved visiting casinos, and was the best "doggie dad" to his two loyal companions, Lobo and Gunner.
Kenneth adored being a grandfather. It is safe to say his first biological grandson was his entire world and he was thrilled to become a grandpa again to his granddaughter that is expected this July. He undoubtedly loved his family and any gathering or event where he could spend time with them. Kenneth will also be remembered as quite the "people person" who according to his wife, "so enjoyed his people." He also enjoyed camping and traveling and took the trip of a lifetime in 2023 with his wife where they traveled the Historic Route 66, from Chicago to California.
Kenneth's untimely death leaves behind a host of loving family and friends heartbroken, including his wife, Kelly (Brown) May of
Cloverdale, Indiana, whom he married February 14, 2012, after 10 years of dating. He also leaves behind his son, Danny May (wife, Stephanie) of
Pittsboro, Indiana; daughter, Amy Caldwell (husband, Travis) of Peru, Indiana; stepson, Wesley Odom (wife, Caitlin) of Indianapolis, Indiana; sister, Linda Souder of
Garrett, Indiana; three grandchildren and one expected in Julyand his father-in-law, Wayne Brown of
Eminence, Indiana.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Larry and Richard May and brother-in-law, Bill Souder.
In honoring his wishes, his earthly remains will be cremated. Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, June 6, 2024, from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm at Neal & Summers Funeral & Cremation Center in
