Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 1:00 pm in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home for Kenneth Mays Jr., 72, who passed away February 22, 2024 at Magnolia Estates Nursing Home. Frank Carmichael will conduct the funeral services. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include his daughters, Carrie (Shane) Sullivan of Simpsonville, SC and Gabrielle (Trey Robinson) Mays of Rayne; mother, Goldie Mays of Carencro; two sisters, Carol Mays of Lafayette and Geraldine Carriere of Carencro; two brothers, Thomas Mays of Lafayette, and Everette Mays of Victoria, TX; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth E. Mays Sr..
Kenneth was a native of New Orleans and resident of Lafayette for most of his life. He worked as a welder for AF Industries for 35 years.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Mays, Shane Sullivan, Trey Robinson, Jonathan Mays, James Mays, and Tom Mays. Honorary pallbearers include Everette Mays, Mike Carriere, and Mike Bollich.
The family requests that visitation be held Saturday between the hours of 10 am - 1:00 pm.
The family extends its special thanks to the staff at NSI Hospice for their care and compassion shown to Kenneth in his final days.
Memorial contributions can be made in Kenneth's name to the Nebraska Medical Center, 42nd and Emile St., Omaha, NE 68198
