Kenneth Larry Moore, 80 of Bowling Green passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026 at the Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Larry was born on June 5, 1945, to Horace and Elizabeth Harbin Moore of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his wife Lenda Sue Davis Moore, a brother David Moore and sister-in-law, Barbara Moore. Larry served in the National Guard and then went on to join the Army. He served the 101st Airborne Division with 68 jumps C Company 502 infantry battalion. He served in Viet Nam from June 1965-July 1966. Larry received three purple hearts for his injuries received in Viet Nam. He was a proud Veteran and truly a hero. He returned to civilian life in August 1967 where he acquired his first civilian job at Firestone Textile. Larry worked there until the plant closed in 1980. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He became self employed after Firestone and worked as a building contractor, oil well operator and farmer. He loved watching wildlife close by. He loved it as much as he loved his wife Lenda whom he had married January 28, 1967. They enjoyed 58 years together.
His survivors include his sister, Rebecca McRay (Scott); three nephews, Shane Willmon, Greg Willmon and Jeff Moore; one niece, Dacia Radford.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel with burial in Hawks Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday and 9a.m. – 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
