Kenneth Earl Murphy

Kenneth Earl Murphy (78) resident of Maumee, OH passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Lakes of Monclova Friday August 16, 2024, surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Ken was born March 28, 1946, in Toledo, OH. He was a 1964 graduate of Waite High School. He served our country from 1967 to 1968 with the United States Army during the Vietnam War receiving the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He worked for the Dana Corporation, and the United States Post Office until his retirement.
Ken enjoyed reading detective and cowboy novels, movies, and TV shows. His most recent obsession was watching Fox News. He had much fun and delight riding his low riding three wheeled bicycle with his bride and take their dog "DD" to the park for picnics. He looked forward to his ice cream nights with his bride. He regularly attended the Maumee American Legion Post #320.
He met the love of his life, Betty, in 1975 and were wed in 1977. They enjoyed many years going on cruises and diving adventures along the Mexican coast, the Caribbean, Pacific, and Atlantic oceans. He and his bride's favorite vacation destination was Cozumel, Mexico. He helped raise his stepson as a son of his own. For nine football seasons, he never missed one of his son's football games even though he really didn't care about the sport. He enjoyed riding bikes with his grandchildren when they were younger to get ice cream.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents (Marvin and Eleanore). He is survived by his bride of 47 (plus 2) years, Betty Murphy; son Roger M. Hight, Jr. (Heather), granddaughters Brianna and Katie Hight, and grandson Roger M. Hight, III.
You will be deeply and sadly missed, and still very much loved. "Thank you for always being my friend", your bride Betty. "Thank you for being my dad", your son Roger. "Thank you for raising such an amazing son, husband, father, and friend", your daughter-in-law Heather. "Thank you for the ice cream, Papa", your grandchildren Brianna, Katie, and Roger, III.
