In Loving Memory of Kenneth Lee Pendleton
It's with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Lee Pendleton, who was 91 years old. A man of unwavering commitment, Kenneth leaves behind a legacy of hard work, loyalty, and a profound dedication to his family and community. Kenneth was a man of action. His dedication to his family and his work was evident in everything he did. He showed his love through his reliability and actions, shaping the strength of his family. Kenneth played a pivotal role in raising his grandchildren, offering guidance and discipline that helped shape them into the individuals they are today. When Kenneth committed to something, he saw it through to the end-whether it was his career, family, or supporting his grandchildren's athletic endeavors. Kenneth's 67-year marriage to Norma Heizer Pendleton was a testament to his devotion. Together, they raised two children, Rhonda Pendleton Williams and Gary Pendleton. His care and dedication to Norma, especially in her final years, set an example for his entire family. His siblings were also integral to the strong family bond they shared. Kenneth is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda & Stanley Williams; grandkids, Derrick Keilers, Preston & Sarah Keilers, Halee & Jody Baker, and Dusty Pendleton; 7 great-grandkids; and many other family members. Family preceded in death: ( wife) Norma Pendleton, (son) Gary Pendleton, (mother and dad) Lee & Pauline Pendleton, (siblings) Vernon Pendleton, Louis (Red) Pendleton, Don Pendleton, and Clara (Nell) Brownlee. After high school, Kenneth served his country in the Army during the Korean War as a Switchboard Operator, helping create a communication network that connected families across the country. He returned and went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. for 35 years, rising to leadership while juggling full-time work, school, and raising a family. His career took him across Texas-from Fort Worth to Burleson, Cleburne, Ranger, Wichita Falls, Bowie, and Eastland. Along the way, Kenneth continued to serve his community, including leadership roles as president of Kiwanis, TSPRA (Texas Senior Pro Rodeo Association), and the Dublin Live Oak Cemetery Association. Kenneth was a cowboy and rancher at heart. A skilled horseman and roper, he spent much of his life competing with his friends in calf roping and later in heading and heeling. He never met a stranger. With many championship saddles and belt buckles, he stepped away from the sport at age 77, satisfied with having completed something he loved. Kenneth also enjoyed working with cattle, farming his land, and fishing. Kenneth's life was defined by purpose and service. Though he spoke little, his actions shaped those around him. His steady leadership and unwavering commitment to his family and community will continue to be remembered for generations to come. A visitation will be held Monday, April 7, 2025, at Harrell Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00pm. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 10:00am at the New Dublin Liveoak Cemetery in Dublin, Texas.
