Kenneth Ray Perkins, age 84, of Middlesboro, KY, entered his Heavenly home on November 25, 2024. He was born on December 31, 1939, in Fork Ridge, TN, to the late William Howard and Ethel Gulley Perkins.
Kenneth was saved and baptized at an early age and spent his life as a faithful servant of God. His works for the Lord were bountiful and done with grace. Kenneth was a dedicated member of Yeary’s Chapel, later named Abundant Life and then Shiloh Church, where he was a devoted deacon and elder for many years. In his later life, he joined Chadwell Station Baptist Church where, even in a wheelchair, he would be at the altar praying for others. Kenneth was grounded in his faith and touched countless lives. He had a true love for people, especially his family. He loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren and always wanted to be surrounded by those he loved. Hunting and fishing were two of his favorite past times, but it was the time spent sitting in a tree stand on a cold fall morning that gave him peace and time to talk with God that he truly relished. Kenneth was a blessing to many and will be cherished forever.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Shirley Perkins; daughter, Rebecca Perkins; parents, William Howard Perkins and Ethel Gulley Perkins; and brother, Pete Perkins.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Sherri (Mark) Griffin, Renee Perkins, Kenny Perkins, Alexis (Nick) Hatfield, and Bronwyn (Tyler) Suffridge; two bonus children that he loved as his own, Chris Hurt and Danella Gambrel; grandchildren, Tyler Griffin, Brittany (Aaron) Ellis, Tori (Caleb) Posey, Tristan Griffin, Gavin Holbrook, and Kennidy Hurt; great-grandchildren, Ily Griffin, Stevie Griffin, Emori Posey, Mack Posey, Lily Ellis, and Cooper Vanover; brother, Roscoe Perkins; and special friend, Billy Ray Hoskins; as well as a host of other family and friends.
The family of Kenneth Perkins will receive friends on Sunday, December 1, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Cawood Funeral Home Chapel, Middlesboro, KY. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Jim Blevins presiding.
At the conclusion of the funeral service, family and friends will travel in procession to Green Hills Memorial Gardens, where graveside services will be held.
Pallbearers will be Nick Hatfield, Aaron Ellis, John Robinson, Chris Hurt, Renee Perkins, Alexis Hatfield, Brittany Ellis, and Bronwyn Suffridge. An honorary pallbearer will be Paul Brock.
