Kenneth Phelps Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home - New Braunfels on Feb. 11, 2026.
Kenneth Bryan Phelps, age 63, of New Braunfels, Texas, passed away on February 7, 2026. Kenneth was born on March 21, 1962, in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He grew up and lived in Millersville, Maryland and moved with his family to New Braunfels, Texas in 2011. He was a devoted husband, loving father, beloved son, brother, and friend. A man of few words, Kenneth let his actions speak - steady, sincere, and unwavering. He was known for his quiet strength, thoughtful presence, and deep commitment to his family.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Nancy, their children, Dale and Hannah Phelps, both of New Braunfels, Texas, and his son, Kenneth Phelps, Jr. of Pasadena, Maryland. Kenneth worked as a Journeyman Electrician for 36 years. In his free time, Kenneth enjoyed barbequing and smoking brisket, building model train layouts, listening to '70s and '80s classic rock, and watching football, baseball, and NASCAR racing - passions that reflected his love of good food, craftsmanship, music, and the thrill of the game.

Kenneth is also survived by his parents, Leonard and Louise Phelps of Millersville, Maryland; his siblings Sharon Filloramo of Tampa, Florida, Keith Phelps (Kelly) of Pasadena, Maryland, Marci Phelps of Lakeland, Florida, and Charlene Smith (Chad) of Arnold, Maryland; as well as many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

Kenneth will be remembered for his quiet wisdom, devotion to family, and his steady love for his family. His presence will be deeply missed, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

In support of his wishes, no services will be held.

I am so incredibly sorry for your loss.

My name is Amy. I grew up on O'Brecht Road and met the Phelps' when they moved there around 1970. Sharon and I became fast friends and have remained close throughout the years. My memories of "Kenny" are from that time. In my mind he's still that tall, skinny boy. I have so many memories of playing at their house. Of course, as typical kids, Sharon and I did not want Kenny bothering us and messing up our stuff when we were playing with our Barbies or playing school. So there was lots of fussing that went on between all of us; like brothers and sisters do.

I also have memories of Mr. and Mrs. Phelps packing all of us kids in their station wagon and taking us to Hershey Park amusement park for the day. Sharon and I were able to go off on our own to ride the big rides and Kenny and Keith did the same ; while the 2 little girls, Marcy and Charlene stayed with their parents to ride the little rides. We would all meet up back at the station wagon at lunch time to eat the picnic lunch (sandwiches) that they had packed and then we would go off again until evening time and then would drive home after dark.

I'm not sure how important these memories are for me to share, but I wanted to let you know that they are important to me. I have always had fondness in my heart for all of the Phelps' and I always will. My heart is broken for all of you and all I can offer is my sympathy and love. And I hope that in some small way knowing that Kenny's life touched so many people; even people that you may not even know that it in some small way is a tiny source of comfort.
