Kenneth lovingly known as “Big” Kenny to many and Pawpaw to his grandchildren, passed away on March 5, 2026. Kenny was known for his tough persona, humor, and quick wit, as well as his deep love for children and for his family. He had a way of making others feel safe, secure, and welcome. Those who knew him well understood that beneath his tough exterior was a man who cared deeply about the people around him.
In the months leading up to his passing, Kenny faced many medical ups and downs. Through it all, he remained deliberate about being present with his wife and staying connected with the family he loved. His devotion to those closest to him remained evident to the very end. He is survived by his beloved wife, Diana Strange; his two sons and their wives, Stephen and Laura Strange and Joseph and Jodi Strange; his brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Irene; his loving sisters, JoAnn, Joyce, and Cathy; and his six grandchildren: Savannah, Lily, Kara, Kelsie, Jack, and Everleigh, who lovingly knew him as Pawpaw. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Lucy. He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty, and his mother, Emma Page. Kenny found joy in many things throughout his life and took great pride in any responsibility he had.
He was proud of his time serving in the U.S. Army and his service with the St. Matthews Fire Department. He enjoyed playing golf, watching horse racing, spending time with his grandchildren, spending holidays with his family, watching basketball, cutting the grass, and striking up conversations with new people wherever he went. Those who love Kenny will remember his ability to naturally spark conversation with anyone he met, his special way of making children feel loved and important, and the pride he took in caring for the things he loved.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 14, at 11:30 AM at Louisville Memorial Gardens East Cemetery and Funeral Home in Louisville, Kentucky. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate and remember Kenny’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Blood Cancer United foundation, a cause close to Kenny’s heart. His family will continue to carry forward his legacy of connection and community that Kenny lived so faithfully. In many ways, his life reflected the calling to encourage others, build meaningful relationships, and remain present in the lives of those we love. Fittingly, a verse that reflects both his life and his birthday comes from Hebrews 10:25: “not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” May his memory continue to remind us to gather often, encourage one another, and cherish the time we share together.
