Kenneth L. Strei

Kenneth Larry Strei was born on January 29, 1941 at home in Winsted Township the son of Walter and Evelyn (Schmidt) Strei.
He was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hollywood Township on February 16, 1941 by Pastor W. Ernst and confirmed on April 3, 1955 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie by Pastor A. Vomhof. His confirmation verse was 1 Corinthians 6:20 "For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's."
On September 21, 1963, Kenneth Strei married Karen Lemmerman at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie. They made their home on the family farm. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters Tamara and Tanya.
Kenneth was a lifelong farmer who enjoyed field work. In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He did trap shooting for a few years. In Kenneth's recent years he enjoyed being outdoors in general, gardening and being with his great grandson.
Kenneth served as an usher in church for a time and was on the Stewardship Board also for a time.
He was never comfortable going too far from home.
He was preceded in death by his parents Walter & Evelyn Strei, grandparents, many aunts, uncles, mother-in-law and father-in-law and by a daughter Tamara Robinson on July 7, 2022.
Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of sixty-one years: Karen; a daughter Tanya and her husband Wayne Mathews; granddaughter Nicole and her husband Jeremy Otto; great grandson: Grayson Lee Otto born on April 29, 2023; two brothers: Larry (Pat) Strei and Michael Strei; sister-in-law: Marlene and her husband Kenneth Campbell; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Kenneth passed away on Friday, January 10, 2025 at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
A Memorial service for Kenneth Strei will be held on Thursday, January 16 at 2:00 P.M. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie with a visitation AT THE CHURCH from 12 Noon until time of services.
Inurnment will follow at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.
