Kenneth Dean Sturgell, 65 of Martinsville, passed unexpectedly from his earthly life on Thursday, November 28th, 2024, at his residence. His life began on Friday, September 4th, 1959, in Topeka, Kansas. Kenny, as he was commonly known, was the son of Donald R. Sturgell and Juanita Pauline (Cary) Wesseler.
He lived most of his life in Morgan County, aside from a few years in Indianapolis. Kenny was a twenty-nine-year member of the UAW Local #761 and worked as a forklift operator for many years. Most recently, he worked for DHL Express in Indianapolis, where he had been a dedicated employee for over twelve years before his health deteriorated, forcing him to take an early retirement in 2023. Prior to DHL Express, he was employed at Polygram in Fishers for several years.
Outside of work, Kenny took pleasure in following NASCAR, more specifically Tony Stewart and Bill Elliott, cheering on Purdue Football and Purdue Basketball, watching sports and traveling. He was also an avid Bears and Cardinals fan.
He is survived by his mother, Juanita Wesseler of Martinsville, IN; sons, David (wife, Kristen) Sturgell and Donald Sturgell both of Mooresville, IN; brothers, Joe (wife, Marie) Sturgell of Pendleton, IN, and Jim (wife, Jessica) Wesseler of Martinsville, IN; sister, Kim (husband, Randall) Garrett of Monrovia, IN; and three beloved grandchildren, Jackson, Maxfield and Kora.
Kenny's family has chosen to honor his wishes for cremation. The family will be hosting a private celebration of life memorial service.
Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center has been entrusted with his final arrangements and condolences may be shared on the funeral home website at www.nealandsummers.com
