Kenneth Eugene Walker 1938-2024
Kenneth Walker, 85, of Grayson, KY passed away Thursday, April 25, 2024, at King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, KY. He was born October 7, 1938, in Sophi, KY (Carter County); a son of the late Carrie Carroll Mobley and Ora Walker. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his stepfather, Lowell Mobley, and a brother, Jimmy Walker.
Ken served his Country proudly with the United States Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis. When he returned home, he married his sweetheart, Helen, in 1963. They moved to Ohio where Ken worked for 35 years at Chrysler Corporation in Twinsburg. He retired in 1999 and returned to Kentucky where he loved spending time with family and working in his garage on cars, lawn mowers and all types of engines. He was a devout Christian and devoted to reading his Bible daily. He was a member of the Lake Road Freewill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Helen Bailey Walker (they were to have celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on May 18); his daughter, Angie Walker Gary and son-in-law Tim Gary of Arlington, VA; two brothers, Billy J. Walker (wife Bonnie Walker) and Ora Lee Walker (wife Kaye Walker) both of Olive Hill, KY; three sisters, Ernestine Montgomery of Ashland, KY, Gay Jones (husband Gary Jones) and Diana Bonta (husband Rodney Bonta) both of Olive Hill, KY; three granddaughters, Sophia Gary (fiance Evan Dix), Eva Gary, and Celeste Gary; numerous nieces, nephews, and beloved relatives, his loving church family, and last, but not least, his dear puppy Paisley.
He was adored by his family and loved by so many. We will all miss him dearly but take comfort in knowing that he is full of joy and walking with the Lord.
Services will be Thursday, May 2, 2024, at the Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson, Grant Sammons, Minister. Visitation will start at 11am followed by the funeral service at 1pm. Burial will follow with Military Honors at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast in Greenup County. After the burial, all are welcome to join the family at the Lakeroad Freewill Baptist Church for dinner and fellowship.
