It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kenneth E. Ward, Sr., 84, who departed this life peacefully on June 24, 2025, in Milford, Ohio. Born on June 1, 1941, in Covington, Kentucky, Ken was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, whose life was marked by unwavering dedication to his family and community.
Ken joined in marriage with his cherished wife, JoAnne Ward, on October 29, 1960. Their love stood as a testament to devotion; a bond built over 64 years. Together, they created a home centered around Christ and filled with warmth, love, and the sound of joyful gatherings, embodying the very spirit of family.
As a member of Milford Christian Church, Ken exemplified kindness and community, forging lasting relationships and nurturing those around him. He had a passion for woodworking and over the years made several pieces of furniture. Whether he was crafting something beautiful with his hands or sharing his admiration for John Wayne films, Ken embraced life with enthusiasm.
Kenneth is survived by his loving wife, JoAnne (Purden), and their three sons: Kenneth E. (Martha) Ward, Jr., Chad T. (Tonja) Ward, and Stephen J. (Deborah) Ward. He took immense pride in his grandchildren: Lauren Yankanin, Julianne (Jay) Blackburn, Chad (Amy) Ward, Jr., Kaitlyn (Tom) Mullens, Delaney (Parker) Clouse, Cody Ward, Hunter Ward, and Maddie Ward. Each grandchild brought a unique joy to his life, a legacy he cherished deeply. He is also survived by a wonderful group of great-grandchildren: Gavin, Abby, Jackson, Jayden, Jacob, Miles, Makayla, Colten, Conley, Kace, and Estella. Ken is also survived by his sister Barbara (Ron) Hayes who will carry forward the love he instilled in his family.
Kenneth was preceded in death by: his parents Erbie & Thelma Ward and his brother late Keith Ward (Nancy).
Funeral services to honor Ken's life and legacy will be held at Milford Christian Church, on Saturday June 28, 2025 at Noon, where family and friends will gather to share heartfelt memories and celebrate his remarkable journey from 11:00AM until time of services. We invite all who knew Ken to join us in a reflection of his life, his passions, and the love he so freely gave. Burial will follow in Graceland Memorial Gardens.
