It is with deep sadness and a sense of profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Robert Edward "Bob" Ward on September 23, 2025, at the age of 89 in
Virginia Beach, Virginia. Bob was born on September 18, 1936, in Norfolk, Virginia, and throughout his 89 years, he touched countless lives with his generosity, skill, and spirit.
Bob was a man of many talents and passions. In 1980, he built and later formed MLR Enterprises with his sons. As the owner of Executive Office Machines, he brought determination and innovation to his work, always finding ways to improve and excel. Yet his pursuits extended far beyond business. Bob was an exceptional carpenter and a masterful brickworker; these skills were not merely hobbies but gifts he shared freely with others. In 1980, he built his own home, a testament to his craftsmanship and dedication.
A true car enthusiast, Bob's eyes would light up at the mention of a classic vehicle. He was an active member of the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) and the Model A Clubs, sharing his love and knowledge with fellow enthusiasts.
Known as a "jack of all trades and a master of none," Bob had a boundless curiosity and an unwavering willingness to learn and help wherever he could. He was a friend to everyone, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a bit of wisdom. Those who knew him will remember him as a kind soul with a big heart.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Clinton and Louise, and his cherished wife, Dorothy aka Jane as well as his brothers Clinton and Donald Christian. Bob leaves behind a legacy of family and love through his sons, Mark (Teresa) and Lee (Lori); grandchildren, Shawna and Joseph; and great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Logan, Stryker, Mason and Rebel.
The family will receive friends during a visitation on Sunday, October 5, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5033 Rouse Drive in Virginia Beach. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. on October 6, 2025, at the same location, followed by interment at Rosewood Memorial Park.
