Kenneth Warner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Chapel & Cremation Center - South Jordan on Mar. 18, 2026.
Kenneth Leon Warner

1940 – 2026

Our beloved husband and father, Kenneth Leon Warner, passed away peacefully in his sleep of natural causes, on March 14, 2026, 15 days before his 86th birthday. Kenneth was born in Richfield, Utah to Valda Elizabeth Syddall Warner and Milo Lewis Warner on March 28, 1940.

He grew up on a family ranch in Antimony, Utah growing potatoes, and in a home that this grandparents built. He attended Antimony School for elementary-middle grade. His father later sold the ranch and they moved to Provo, where Kenneth attended and graduated from Provo High School in 1958. Soon after high school graduation, he joined the armed forces – US Navy, active duty. He was part of the Navy Reserves for an additional 4 years. In 1964 he received an honorable discharge from the US Naval Corps.

Kenneth attended Brigham Young University from 1960-1961, where he studied computer programming. During this time, he met the love of his life Marilyn (Pinky) Mortensen. They later married in the Salt Lake Temple, April 1961. A new job at Hercules Aero Space Plant in computer programming brought them to Granger-West Valley area, where he still resided. Kenneth lived a full life enjoying raising 6 children and was devoted to his family and faith. Later in his career he worked for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and completed his career working for Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurance Company, where he retired from. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served faithfully in many positions over the years from ward clerk, bishop and in the stake presidency.

Kenneth's greatest joy was his family, he also found joy riding motorcycles, with his wife and traveling across the country. He spent his retired years working in his wood workshop where his talent for creating beautiful pieces of art blossomed.

He loved going to their cabin where they enjoyed spending time in nature and with family. He took on a project to restore a 1929 Model A, that was a pile of rust, it was the same model and year of his first automobile. He was able to beautifully complete this project back to its original form. He taught himself how to play the guitar which he shared often with his children in family home evenings.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, a sister, a granddaughter, and a son-in-law. Kenneth is survived by his wife Marilyn Warner of 65 years, children: Medite (Kent), Chris (Penny), Melissa, Wendy, Jeff, and Brad (Danika), 20 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank and are grateful for the loving care he received during his illness: Legacy Village Rehabilitation, Hunter Hollow Care Center, and Rocky Mountain Hospice.
