Kenneth Wilson Whitby, age 81, a lifelong resident of Brunswick County, VA, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2025.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Peebles Whitby and Jennie Mae Wilson Whitby; his wife, Edna Gibson Whitby; a son, Jeff Riegel; a grandson, Coty Mills; siblings, Lottie Mayton, Bertie Powell, Louise Clary, Addie Mayton, Christine Moore, Lillian Clary, Bessie House, Arthur Whitby, Raymond Whitby, and Ed Whitby.
Mr. Whitby was an avid hunter and a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed working on old tractors, small engines, and going to dances. He especially enjoyed having his family over for the annual stew.
He is survived by his children, Darrell Riegel (Andrea), Denise Moore (Thurman), and Renee Mills (Ricky); grandchildren, Jami Elliott (James), Shane Moore, Kristin Andrade (Matt), Brianne Hostutler (Andrew), Andy Riegel (Bethany), Hannah Riegel, Damon Cash, Shasta Ayala (Josue), Kacee Mullins (Jesse), Savannah Hart (Buddha), Bryan King (April), Colette Yeatts (Jeremy); 18 great grandchildren; brothers, Willie C. Whitby and Emory F. Whitby, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Lawrenceville Health & Rehabilitation for the care they provided during his stay.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Williams Funeral Home & Crematory in Lawrenceville, VA. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brunswick County Cancer Association, P.O. Box 522, Lawrenceville, VA 23868.
