Kenneth 'Kenny' Edward Winters, 86, died November 26, 2024, at Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems in Beloit. He was born February 21, 1938, in Moran, KS, to Edward Dan and Mildred Hazel (Thacker) Winters.
Kenny graduated from Preston High School and also attended Pratt JUCO for a year. He worked as a gas measurement technician for Williams Companies. Kenny enjoyed restoring vehicles and watching western movies. He was a very active member of Bethany Nazarene Church prior to his illness.
On June 18, 1961, he married Janet Sue Hammond in Coats. They shared over 61 years of marriage, prior to her death on August 19, 2022.
Kenneth is survived by: his children, Deanna Underwood of Esbon, KS, Larry (Terri) Winters of Spring Hill, KS, and Mike (Jamie) Winters of McKinney, TX; brothers, Joe (Karleen) Winters of Glenpool, OK, and Donald (Donita) Winters of Mountain View, AR; sister-in-law, Jeannie Winters of Elk City, OK; brother-in-law, Jerry (Rita) Hammond of Medicine Lodge, KS; 5 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Janet; son-in-law, Roger Underwood; sisters, Joy and Karren; brothers, Bud, Guy, Alvin, and Gary; brothers-in-law, Ed Jones and Donald Hammond; and sister-in-law, Janice Winters.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Bethany Nazarene Church, 408 N. Kent Rd., Hutchinson, with Pastor Jason Avery officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, with military honors being conducted by the Kansas Army National Guard.
Friends may sign his memorial book from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Meals on Wheels or Bethany Nazarene Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main., Hutchinson, KS 67501.
