Kenneth Witherspoon Sr. passed away on March 27, 2024. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was born on February 16, 1970, in New Haven, Connecticut to the late Annie Witherspoon and the late Willie Miller.
As a kid, Kenn loved to be outside having fun. You couldn't tell him he wasn't the champ at shooting marbles. He was also fond of instruments, and he played them well after a lot of practice. Just kidding, he did very well in the band. He played the trombone, the trumpet, and the flute.
Kenn was a hard worker; often having two jobs at the same time. He was a taxi driver and worked at Burger King for a long time. Somewhere along the way, he discovered he had a love for cooking. We should have known that because every nickname he gave his children, and a few others were all food. We have Chocolate Child, Biscuit, Chicken-wing, and Jelly just to name a few. He worked as a cook at Chili's for many years and up until his passing, he was in his second stint as a chef at Dave and Buster's while also working as an Uber driver.
Kenn was known for his easy-going spirit and big smile. It didn't matter what was going on, seemed like he always had a sunny disposition. He loved his family and loved his children very much. Kenn was truly a gentle giant; except for when it came to his beloved Dallas Cowboys. He didn't care if they only had one win, he was going to talk trash and have their back. He was not a fair-weather fan. He loved the Dallas Cowboys!
Kenn is survived by three sons and two daughters: Kenisha Witherspoon of New Haven, CT, Kendell Witherspoon (Amari) of Atlanta, GA, Kenneth Jordan Witherspoon Jr. of Augusta, GA, Destiny Witherspoon of Columbus, GA and Kevin Witherspoon of New Haven, CT. He also had one granddaughter, Olivia, and another grand arriving in November. Also left to cherish his loving memory are his nine siblings: Martha, Ruth, Daisy, Jettie, Emma, Will, Keith, Roderick (Marshall), Latasha and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Kenn was loved by all and will be missed by the same! If you ever had a phone call with him, you know how he ended the call. Any-who, talk to you in the future!
