Kenneth R. Wooton, Sr.
March 25, 1955 – July 3, 2025
Kenneth R. Wooton, Sr., 70, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2025, due to complications from his stroke last year. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Bonnie, after 35 years of marriage. Ken was born on March 25, 1955, in Newport, Kentucky, where he spent his childhood. He later moved to Troy, Alabama, where he attended Charles Henderson High and served in the ROTC. His family relocated to Pensacola, where Ken married and had three children, Kenny Jr., Nicole and Crystal.
Along with a great sense of humor and generosity, Ken was known for his good work ethic while employed with Barber's Dairies and Armstrong Tile. In 1994 he earned a manufacturing technology degree and joined Solutia until he retired. Ken loved his country and served in the Army National Guard for 10 years, honorably discharged as a Sergeant. Ken loved posting funny memes on Facebook, photography, softball, motorcycles, and spending time with friends and family.
Bonnie and Ken enjoyed roller-skating (where they met), traveling back roads and attending Southern Gospel concerts. Ken loved the Lord and his Olive Baptist Church family, serving in various ministries, most recently as a greeter. He had served as a mentor to men participating in the Waterfront Rescue Mission's work program.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Malcolm and Emma Wooton. He leaves his wife, Bonnie; children, Nicole Chambless, Kenny (Ashley) Wooton and Crystal Berry; stepdaughter, Betty (Chris) Johnson; siblings, Brenda (Ray) Wessling, Malcolm (Barb) Wooton, Jack (Jennifer) Wooton; grandchildren, Caleb (Kayla) Johnson, Jamie (Heath) Jones, Joanna (Riley) Ayers, Levi Johnson, Garret Wooton, Peyton Wooton, Ethan Abbott, Z Abbott, Jayson Berry, Layla Berry; great-grandchildren Hadley and Rhett Johnson, and Sutton Ayers; many other family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Olive Baptist Church on Monday, July 14, visitation from 10 to 11, service at 11. In lieu of flowers, we suggest donations to Waterfront Rescue Mission Life builder Recovery Program or Christian Chefs Pensacola, c/o Chef Bob Vaningan.
