Mr. Kenneth Matthew York, 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, February 5th, 2024 at Forsyth Medical Center.
Kenneth was born May 19th, 1940 in Yadkin County to the late Henry and Magdalene York.
He worked for RJ Reynolds for 32 plus years and was also a skilled welder for many years. Kenneth loved being outside and you could always find him working in the garden, on the tractor, mowing the yard, cutting wood, or as his grandchildren liked to call it riding on his skat cat! He loved spending time with his family and looked forward to Sunday lunches with them. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy and he loved every one of them. He was a devoted husband, dad and papaw and he loved the Lord. As he entered the gates of Heaven I know the father said, “Well done thy good and faithful servant, well done!”
He is preceded in death by his parents Henry and Magdalene York and brother Arthur York.
Surviving are his loving wife of 65 years Peggy York whom was his best friend. His children Yvonda (Phil Ireland) Brown, Brian (Tracy) York, and Deborah York. His grandchildren Brandi (Chad) Snow, Natalie York, Emily (Lincoln) Davis and Derrick Adams. Sister Karen (Mike) Norman, sister-in-law Peggy York and many nieces and nephews.
His family will miss him dearly but rejoice in knowing he is with our Heavenly Father and that we will see him again one sweet day.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Turners Creek Baptist Church. His funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:00 PM Saturday in Turners Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Allen Barker and Rev. Scott Welch. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to the staff at Forsyth Medical Center Neuro ICU and palliative care for the wonderful care he received while there.
The family would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Sarah Asbury for the kindness and care she gave to their daddy and papaw.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Turners Creek Baptist Church, 3216 Courtney Huntsville Road, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
