Kenneth G. "Kenny" Fields, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in
McAlester, OK on August 27, 2023, at the age of 79.
Born on February 23, 1944, in McAlester to William Leon and Mildred Nadine (Spearman) Fields, Kenny was a pillar of strength and love to all who knew him.
A celebration of Kenny's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at High Hill Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Steve Moore.
Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory.
Kenny was a proud graduate of Haileyville High School, class of 1962. He served his country with honor in the U.S. Army Reserve before embarking on a fulfilling career in the Engineering department for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. His work, which involved performing surveys and inspections, was a testament to his intelligence and dedication.
Beyond his professional life, Kenny was a man of many passions. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as raising cattle, ranching, and farming. He was a faithful member of High Hill Baptist Church, where he served on the building committee as chairman. His love for children was evident in his role as "Pappa Kenny" at Lakewood Christian Church, a moniker that brought him great joy.
Kenny's love for the outdoors was infectious. His passion for hunting and fishing will live on through his family, who will remember him as a kind and gentle man who cherished every moment spent with them.
As the famous quote by John Muir goes, "In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks," and this was certainly true for Kenny.
Kenny is predeceased by his parents, William and Mildred Fields, his brother, Bill Fields, and his brothers-in-law, Art, Andy, and Dan Hammond.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Martha "Marti" Fields, his son, Guy Fields and wife, Angie, his grandchildren, Opal, Taylynn, and Wednesday, brothers, Ronald Fields and wife, Phyllis of
Houston, Texas, David Fields and wife, Jewell of High Hill; sister, Carolyn Thrash and husband, Mark of Owasso; brother-in-law, Tom Price and wife, Marcia of Tulsa; sister-in-law, Beth Hammond; nieces and nephews, Lindsey Hammond-Brennan and husband, Michael, Glen Fields, David Fields, Shawn Fields and wife, Sue Ann, Tina Stockton and husband, Jack; Becky van der Merwe and husband, Derek, Penni Pace Mix and husband, Kevin, Tim Pace and wife, Kyla, Bryan Fields and wife, Stephanie, Lana Price, Steve Price and wife, Peggy, Michael Hammond, Drew Hammond, Jacob Hammond and wife, Samantha, Trey Hammond and wife, Ashley, Cody Hammond and wife, Marie; Tyler Hammond, Emily Wagner and husband, Josh; special family friend, that was like a second son, Will Milligan; and a host of other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Kenny was a man of great intelligence, generosity, and love. His life was a testament to these qualities, and he leaves behind a legacy of kindness and dedication that will continue to inspire those who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
