Kent Edward Bogart, 66, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, May 1, 2025, at home in Arkansas City. The funeral will be at 2 pm, Friday, May 9th, at Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home in Arkansas City. Burial to follow at Parker Cemetery. Cremation has been effected. In tribute to Kent's love of the OU Sooners, guests are encouraged to wear an OU shirt.
Kent was born April 28, 1959, in Arkansas City, the son of Floyd and Pauline (Schuchman) Bogart. He graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1977. He earned his Auto Mechanics degree from Cowley College in 1978. He married Kathryn Selenke in 1980 and had three daughters. They later divorced. Kent then married Tammy Wise in 2017.
Kent worked for Ark Valley Distributing of Strother Field for 41 years before retiring in 2021. Affectionately known by family and friends as "Bogie," Kent was a warm, easy-going soul who loved the simple pleasures of life. A nature lover, he treasured days spent camping and fishing in Colorado and at Roaring River State Park. A lifelong sports enthusiast, Kent loved watching the Oklahoma Sooners play all sports. Go Sooners!
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Pauline Bogart. Kent is survived by his wife Tammy of the home; sisters Karen Bogart of Arkansas City and Kathyrn (Earl) Bohannon of Wichita; daughters Kami (Ryan) Smith of Wichita, Kasie Bogart of Winfield, and Kaitlyn (Darren) LaKous of Winfield; step-son Robert (Alyssa) Beach of Tenino, Washington and step-daughter Liz Meridith of Arkansas City; grandchildren Brynley, Cooper, and Kyan Smith, and Declan, Dashiell, and Danika LaKous; step-grandchildren Rilee Andes and Soren Beach. He is also survived by nieces Megan Birch, Lindsay Tresner, and Andrea Tresner, and nephew Corey Tresner, and many cousins.
Family meant everything to Kent, and he always made time for his loved ones, whether it was telling stories around a campfire and camping with family, to helping his wife with a project around the house. He especially loved spending time with his kids and grandchildren and treasured every moment they shared together.
Kent's legacy as a devoted husband, brother, father, Papa, cousin, and friend will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and always remembered for his warm smile, his kind heart, and the joy he found in the company of family and friends. Memorials have been established in Kent's name for the Angels in the Attic food bank. Contributions can be made through the funeral home. Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
