Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home and CrematoryDR. KENT C MCWHERTER, 82, passed away peacefully October 25,2025, at Avow Hospice in Naples, Fl.
He was the son of Vaughn and Mary Colburn McWherter.
Dr McWherter practiced dentistry in Zanesville for over 40 years and developed Pine Ridge subdivision.
He graduated Ohio State Dental School in 1968. Kent was an avid Ohio State Buckeye and a swimmer at OHIO STATE. He was an awesome triathlete completing the Ironman Triathlon in Hawaii in 1984 and named the best Masters Triathlete by Triathlete magazine that year. His hobbies included fishing in Canada every summer with his family, play and teaching bridge, golf, coaching girls track at West M, and making pottery to name a few.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Connie (Dawson) McWherter. Sons, Colburn McWherter, Bret (Julie) Border, and Bart (Abbey) Border. Grandchildren Clay, Ava, Brody, Brock and Luke whom he cherished. A loving sister, Paula (McWherter) Schandel, sister in law Jane (John) Murphy. Nephew Paul Schandel, Nieces Laura (Schandel) Warner, Tina (Davis) Smith and many great nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Neil McWherter, and precious granddaughter Laine Grace Border
Kent was always ready for an adventure and will be greatly missed by Connie, Coco, his family and friends!
A memorial celebration will be held at NORTH TERRACE CHURCH OF CHRIST, 1569 BOWERS LN, ZANESVILLE, OHIO 43701 on Sat. Dec 20 at 1pm. Visitation will be 10 am until time of the service.
