It breaks our hearts to announce the passing of our sister and friend, Phyllis J. Morgan, 70, of Hebron, formerly of Zanesville. Phyllis died December 4, 2025, at Genesis Hospice Morrison house. She was born January 18, 1955, in West Virginia, the daughter of the late Ross and Elnora (Sholes) Morgan.
Phyllis is survived by her brother Steve (Robin) Morgan of Edgewater, FL, her sister Lisa (Jeff) Baughman of Crooksville, OH, her treasured niece, Lindsay (Clayton) Gillespie, and nephews, Austin Morgan (Macie Smith) and Michael Baughman (Kia Buckley), her best friend and partner, Candie Prince, and a host of friends.
She was a graduate of Maysville High School (Class of 1973) and a proud Ohio University bobcat graduate. Phyllis played basketball, volleyball and lacrosse while at OU earning an education degree and began a 33 year career teaching at Franklin Local Schools. She coached basketball and volleyball for many years, and then became a licensed official. She travelled the state for years officiating.
Upon her retirement, she moved to Buckeye Lake and began a pet pampering service that brought her joy (and so, so many friends over the years). Phyllis was happiest with her dear fur friends, especially Max and Saylor. To say Phyllis never met a stranger would be an understatement. A trip around the Lake was an adventure; she loved life and being around people.
Summers on the Lake on her boat were the best. The joy she brought cannot be replaced. She was the best big sister, aunt, and friend.
Friends and family may call from 2:00-5:00 pm on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE.
