GALLATIN, Tenn. - Kent Lamar Snyder, affectionately known as "Whitey" due to his bright blonde hair in childhood, passed away peacefully on Friday, Dec. 6, 2024, in Gallatin, Tennessee, at the age of 61.
Born on April 4, 1963, in Angola, Indiana, to Ned and Jane Snyder, who preceded him in death. Kent lived a life filled with laughter, love, and purpose, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.
A natural athlete, Kent excelled at Fremont High School in basketball, football, baseball and golf, earning accolades as Most Popular, Best Personality, and Class Clown in the Class of 1981.
It was there that he met the love of his life, Debra Hedges. They married in 1985, beginning a lifelong partnership defined by love, family, and shared adventures.
After graduating from Indiana University, Kent built a successful career as a salesman and businessman. He spent the majority of his career in water treatment, most recently with Aqua Clear Water Systems. For 16 years, he owned and operated the Culligan Nashville franchise, where he earned the affectionate nickname "the Culligan Man."
Beyond his professional success, Kent was deeply committed to giving back. He actively supported organizations like the HHS Dugout Club, Night to Shine, and local food banks, demonstrating a generous spirit that touched many lives.
Kent and Debra also attended Three Oaks Church in Gallatin, Tennessee.
Above all, Kent's greatest accomplishment was his family. He took immense pride in his and Debra's three children and six grandchildren.
Kent is survived by his wife, Debra Snyder; his brothers, Chris (Tina) Snyder, of Auburn, Indiana, and Kevin (Robin) Snyder, of Fremont, Indiana; his children, Lindsay (Tom) Standing, of Gallatin, Tennessee, Kendall (Katie) Snyder, of Asheville, North Carolina, and Madison (Sam) Snyder, of Phoenix, Arizona; and six cherished grandchildren, Kamden, Lukas, Lennox, Cameron, Rhett and Smith.
A celebration of Kent's life will be held on Jan.11, 2025, with details to come.

I was Kent´s teacher and coach. He was the perfect student and athlete. He was always full of life and piss and vinegar! Always loved having him around, but I do think I have a couple gray hairs thanks to him. Thank you Kent for the wonderful memories. Thoughts and condolences go out to the family!
