Kerby Mitchell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Parker-Millard Funeral Service and Crematory on Dec. 23, 2025.
Kerby Lynn Mitchell, 84, a resident of Columbia, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Boone Hospital Center.
Kerby was born on October 19, 1941, in Kahoka, Missouri the son of Colin Kerby Mitchell and Daisy Pearline (Perry) Mitchell. On July 19, 1975, in Columbia, he was joined in marriage to Evelyn Stone, and she survives of the home.
Kerby was a man deeply devoted to his family and his work. He spent his life working hard, driven by a steadfast desire to ensure his family was always provided for. An avid NASCAR fan, Kerby and his wife, Evelyn, made annual trips to Daytona Beach to attend the Daytona 500, a tradition they enjoyed together for many years. He had a strong passion for politics and never missed an opportunity to share his views, often steering conversations in that direction whether others were ready or not. When he wasn't working or discussing politics, Kerby cherished time with his "other girl," his beloved dog, Annie Lynn.
In addition to his wife of over 50 years, he will be sadly missed and forever remembered by six children, Elaine Porter of Columbia, Sherry Porter of Columbia, Candy Goran and husband Jeff of Columbia, Anita Baker and husband Chet of Prairie Home, Jane Asher and husband John of Columbia, Kerby Mitchell and wife Mary of Columbia; 11 grandchildren, Brian Schler, Renee Kuhler and husband Matt, Michelle Porter, Joseph Porter, Tommy Goran and wife Tiffany, Brittny Daughtery and husband Jordan, Megun Blumer and husband Sean, Nathan Baker, Montana Beck and husband Brian, Gage Asher and wife Hannah, Caleb Mitchell; 12 great grandchildren; one sister, Susan Brice and husband James of Millersville, MO; two brothers, Gary Michell and wife Jerry of Athens, GA, and Max Mitchell and wife Patsy of Homer, AK; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Kerby was preceded in death by parents; one son, Terry Lee Porter; one brother, Jerry Michell.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2025, in the Jefferson Chapel at Parker-Millard Funeral Service & Crematory with a visitation being held one hour prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Following the funeral service, Kerby will be laid to rest in the Columbia Cemetery.

For the younger Kerby+family~
I am so sorry for ur loss.
Tho I hadn't seen Mr Mitchell for more than 30+years, his name alone, to me personally meant the same as his Son (Kerby Mitchell's) name to me- always hard working, no bs when it came to money, but always a fast smile(unless u owed a rent payment, which I never did!)
My heart goes out to the family, but esp to the younger Kerby...no matter what, ur father will always be with you. Plz don't let his passing put u in ur own prison. Remember ' the good old day's+ his teachings that made you the business savvy man ur today. My heart+prayers are for u+ur family. God bless~
