Kermit Dean Gohring, 90, of Fulton, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025, at SSM Hospital in Jefferson City, Missouri, surrounded by his loving family.

Kermit was born in Fulton, Missouri, on May 24, 1935 to the late Robert and Bessie (Elder) Gohring. He graduated from Fulton High School and, the very next Monday, began working for Callaway Bank, starting what would become a lifelong career in banking.

Kermit attended Westminster College, where he earned a degree in finance and accounting in 1957. While pursuing his education, he continued to work part-time at Callaway Bank. After his time with Callaway Bank, he joined Fulton Building and Loan Association in 1963, which later became Fulton Savings and Loan and then Fulton Savings Bank. His dedication and leadership in the financial community spanned an impressive 47 years.

On March 19, 1958, Kermit was drafted into the United States Army. He served honorably during the Korean War Era, achieving the rank of Specialist 4th Class, until his honorable discharge on March 19, 1960.

Kermit's life was marked most deeply by the love he shared with his family. While attending First Baptist Church in Fulton, he met Omra "Oni" Lanier. The two were united in marriage on April 9, 1960, and together they built a life grounded in faith, love, and devotion to one another.

Affectionately known as "Papa Frog," Kermit was a source of love, laughter, and guidance for his family. He loved going fishing, especially at the Osage River and was a lifetime member of the National Fishing Lure Collector's Club. He also loved going to garage sales, always on the hunt for hidden treasures. Kermit was proud to be the last surviving charter member of the Fulton Breakfast Optimist Club, a role he cherished as part of his lifelong commitment to serving his community.

Kermit will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Glenda Campbell and husband Bud; brother, Kenneth Gohring and wife Delores; sister-in-law, Linda Gardino and husband Jerry; grandchildren, Dean Campbell and wife Michelle, Cassie Goosey and husband CJ; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Emery Campbell, and Aven and Lowen Goosey; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends, and his faithful furry friend, Maizy.

Along with his beloved wife and parents, Kermit was preceded in death by his brothers, Jake Gohring and wife Mary and Bobby Gohring and wife Margie.

Funeral services will be held at Maupin Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Nathan Martin and Pastor Bruce Williamson officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Central Christian Church Cemetery with Military Honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Central Christian Church or the Central Christian Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Blvd, Fulton, MO 65251.
