Kevin, I am thinking of you this morning. I miss going to Jeddy's man cave and seeing you in the custom chair made just for you and big enough that I could sit and "play snuggle" with you for a moment. You became like a brother in our family and we loved you just as much. When you left, I met Maxine. You were your Mom's twin! I fell in love, again! Maxine became a regular visitor and we added her and her cousin, Paulette and Francine and Steve and "Tanky" to the family. Our family and some friends traveled to Chicago when Maxine passed away to represent how much love you both left with us. We miss your huge smile! We miss you joking with us! We miss you and will remember you, Always!

I thought of you tonight, Kevin, when I heard that Jerome passed away today. Once again, my heart is broken. You, Jerome Terry. Clyde, Buck, and Cliffy gave me some of the best times and memories of my life. Thank you. You are missed. Jerome will be missed. I can picture you two in a one one one game in heaven and it brings a little smile through my tears tonight.

I only found out about Kevin's death this year when I was talking to my students about a young man who always gave his all and never gave less of himself. Each year from the time I had Kevin in my class I always used kevin as a role model for my students. I have a pleasure of having Kevin in my class 35yrs ago and yes he was a GENTLE GIANT even in middle school. Today, even after retirement I still hold Keven up as a role model to my grand -children.
It was a pleasure have Kevin and he inspired me.

To The Duckworth Family: I am so sorry he is no longer here with us, but do know that he is still here with us in spirit. I pray that you all will be comforted by these words:
Try to remember that a GOOD man never dies; You will see him many times.
You will feel him in all things that are here out of love, and for love.
The person of a man may leave or be taken away, but the best part of a GOOD man stays. It stays FOREVER!

It was truly an honor to meet Kevin in Portland, 1987 after a game. You truly are a gentle giant. You were a great role model for youth and others. You led by example. Your former team member, Ron Murphy called to let me know you have passed. Kevin, we will miss you.

Kevin was my favorite Trailblazer.
Oh how wish I would have had the
opportunity to meet him. He was a
wonderful "team" player. I am certain
he was just as wonderful to his
immediate family. I do recall seeing
his mother at some of the games in
Portland. Known as the "Gentle Giant"
he will be forever remembered and
greatly missed. My sincere condolences to the immediate family and all the Blazer family.

To the family of Kevin Duckworth:
I enjoyed watching the Trailblazers on TV when Kevin played for them. I was a fan of the team as well. Even though I never met him, but he seemed like a very down-to-earth person. May God be with you all during this very difficult time.

To Maxine, Kevin's mother, and to Kevin's family: I met Kevin when he first moved to Oregon. We laughed at how he loved playing basketball and how easy it was compared to the other jobs he had. Ironically, we both had worked at Burger King in high school (different city and states). He had a good life and accomplished a great deal during his 44 years on earth. He loved the Oregon coast. It was sad to hear that he had passed on at such a young age, but this is a process that each of us here on earth must eventually go through. Rest in peace Kevin.

THE STORMS OF LIFE
Tho the storms may come into your life..Gods love will see you through the toils and strife.
Tho the winds of doubt seems to hold you fast..God has given you assurance that this too shall pass.
Tho the storms may rise and the winds may blow.
If our faith is anchored in Jesus
Gods love will truly flow.
On this ship of life we are the rudder, but God is the one in control
To keep this boat afloat; we must turn over to him,our mind, body and soul.
So let the storms come whenever they may.
Let the breakers dash any time of the day!
Weeping may endure for the night.
But joy cometh in the morning "The Duckworth's" and everything will be allright.
Jerome Goldsmith Sr.
"The Poet"

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived
okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here
is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you
every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up
and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were
gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for
me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's
chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life
on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not
be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But
one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a
time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will
give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day
was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the
way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick
him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in
your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember
you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
