Kevin Adrian Ferguson was born May 27, 1955 in Brooklyn, New York. He was the fourth-born to James and Sylvia Elaine Ferguson.
Kevin began his education in the New York school system. He graduated from Westbury High School Long Island where he was an avid track star earning state honors. He earned a scholarship as a high jumper and attended Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. At Bradley he earned a minor degree in Religious Studies, a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education, and a Master's degree in Counseling.
Kevin met Carla Lisette Stephens at Bradley University whom he married on July 7, 1979. In the tenth year of their marriage this union was blessed with two sons (twins) Darnell and Andre. Kevin was a devoted, faithful, nurturing, loving, caring, patient, and supportive husband and father.
Kevin's consistent love for sharing the gospel with all persons, specifically young people stem from his days on college campus when he would have Bible studies with individuals in his college dormitory, sharing the Word even on the basketball court. Spreading the gospel continued all through his adult life from mission trips home and abroad, church involvement, mentoring and helping all who crossed his path. He was known to lead apologetic classes and further ways to spread the Gospel.
Kevin's employment right out of college was counseling at a mental health center in Los Angeles. From there he was hired as a Child Abuse Investigator and eventually a training supervisor for the County of Los Angeles in which he worked for 31 years.
On Saturday morning March 16, 2024, God called Kevin home. Kevin's mother and father Bishop James Ferguson and Sylvia Elaine Ferguson along with brothers Wayne and Bruce, preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife of 44 years, Carla, his sons, Darnell and Andre (daughter-in-law Ashley); three grandchildren, Kenzo, Kwest, and Harlo. Brothers Carlton and Sheldon, one sister, Yolande; six sisters-in-laws, Sherley, Dolores, Lena, Gerri, April (Alfred), Colleen; one uncle Edward; five brothers-in-laws, Kenneth, Aaron (Sandy), Carl (Kerrysha), Brian, Darryl (deceased) and a host of aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Rest in God's care and His loving hands.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to a couple of Kevin's favorite charities.
