Michael Kevin Jones, 66, of
Piggott, Arkansas, passed away on August 6, 2025, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, Arkansas, surrounded by the love of his family.
Kevin was so much more than the titles he held - an amazing husband, father, and "Pop" whose love and devotion shaped our lives. He poured his heart into everything he did, from caring for his family to serving his community. He had a gift for making people feel seen and valued, and he was loved by all who knew him. His laughter, kindness, and steady presence will be missed more than words can express.
Born on July 2, 1959, in Kennett, Missouri, Kevin was the son of Charlie Jones and Barbara (Turnbo) Jones Bridges. A proud 1977 graduate of Piggott High School, he went on to open Jones' Furniture Store with his dad in 1979. Together, they built a business that became a trusted part of the community, and Kevin continued serving customers there with pride and dedication until his retirement in 2021.
Kevin's love for his community ran deep. He served on the Piggott City Council for 7 years, volunteered as a firefighter for 23 years, and was an active member of the local Airport Board. In 2011, he fulfilled one of his dreams by earning his pilot's license. He also had a special love for the golf course - not just for the game, but for the friendships and laughter he found there. During his retirement, he enjoyed serving as the Greens Keeper at Sugar Creek Country Club, where he cared for the course with the same dedication and pride he brought to everything in life.
His faith was the foundation of his life. Kevin was a devoted and active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and a dedicated Gideon, sharing his love for the Lord with others throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Jones.
Kevin is survived by his wife of almost 47 years, Julia Jones; daughter, Jade Rundle; son, Jake Jones and wife Amanda; grandchildren: Caden, Clay, Anniston, and Cole; mother, Barbara Bridges and husband Chuck; sisters, Diane Elder and husband Danny, and Kellie McPherson and husband Stacey; and many other beloved relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church in
Piggott, Arkansas, with Bro. Kevin Murray officiating. Burial will follow in Piggott Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Kevin Jones Memorial Scholarship Fund at Piggott State Bank or to the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
