Kevin James Julien, 62, of Escanaba, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2025 at home surrounded by loving family.
He was born on January 15, 1963 in Detroit, MI, son of Patrick Dale and Gloria Jean (Chenier) Julien. He attended Gladstone High School and graduated in 1981.
On August 24, 1985, Kevin married the former Mary Sue Makosky at Grace Baptist Church in Gladstone. They were blessed with 39 years of marriage and raised three children, Krystal, Sean, and Tamara.
Starting in 1983, Kevin began working for Bishop Noa Home and then was employed for CGI Data Processing for five years. He then returned to Bishop Noa Home and retired after 32 years as the maintenance supervisor.
Kevin was an active member of New Life Church where he was involved as a leader in the men's bible study and helped arrange the men's retreats.
After the adoption of Sean, Kevin and Mary's caseworker had nominated them for the Angels in Adoption Award, which honors a wide spectrum of individuals making extraordinary contributions in adoption, permanency, and child welfare. Only two couples in every state are selected to receive this award per year. They were honored with award and traveled to Washington D.C. to proudly accept it when Sean was a toddler.
In addition to being with his family, Kevin enjoyed four-wheeling, reciting poems, working on computers, and helping people out with projects.
Among survivors include his loving wife, Mary; father, Patrick Julien; children, Krystal (Erik) Williams and Sean Julien of Escanaba, and Tamara (Phil) Wirhamowicz of Marinette, WI; four grandchildren; siblings, Darin (Wendy) Julien, Loreen (Daniel) Stutzman, Moreen (Phil) Weaver, and Joleen (Mike) Albrecht; along with many loved nieces and nephews.
Along with his mother, Kevin is preceded in death by a brother, Brien Julien; and grandparents, George and Agnes Julien and Gerald and Blanche Chenier.
A visitation will take place at the New Life Church, 2005 8th Ave South, Escanaba, on Thursday, May 1st from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Bob Derheim officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church hall.
Burial will take place in Escanaba Twp. Cemetery.
