Kevin R. Kise, born on December 6, 1966, in Columbus, Ohio, passed away on November 16, 2025, in his home. He previously had a passionate career as a chef, having worked at esteemed establishments such as Jai Lai and Biddies Coach House. But his real joy was being self-employed for over 20 years, running Kise Interiors, where he operated a custom workroom dedicated to drapery and upholstery. He played a significant role in furnishing many businesses in the Short North with beautiful window treatments.
Kevin was a proud graduate of Columbus State University, where he earned his Culinary degree. He also made notable achievements in the field of design, winning several awards and traveling to Las Vegas, Nashville, and North Carolina to accept them. He was a member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and served on the board of the National Upholstery Association. He dedicated time to consult with other designers, helping them create unique designs and solve challenges in their work all over the United States. Additionally, he was previously involved with the Central Ohio Beekeepers Association (COBA).
In his personal life, Kevin recently delved into spirituality, mediums, and the supernatural. He enjoyed attending the Broadway Series in Columbus, where he fostered his love for theatre and the arts. Kevin enjoyed baking and canning, following in the footsteps of his mother as a homesteader.
Kevin is survived by his beloved husband and soulmate, Joshua Arnold; his siblings, Brent (Denise), Mark (Francis), and Tamara; as well as nieces and nephews, Derrick, Ian, Neal, Jana, Josh, and Megan. Kevin is also survived by Dick and Rita Doyle, whom he lovingly considered to be his second mom and dad. Kevin was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Billie Jake Kise of Louisa, Kentucky, and Ruth Ann (Mercer) Kise of London, Ohio and his brother, Duane (Perry). He is now reunited with his beloved dog, Teagan, who passed in 2024.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, located at 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123. A funeral service will follow immediately at 3:00 PM, officiated by Dr. Leon Stutzman.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kevin's memory to The Trevor Project.
