Kevin Eugene Sims

Kevin Eugene Sims was born in Bakersfield, California, on August 14, 1973. He passed away on September 6, 2022.
Kevin grew up in Lamont with his mother Edith and stepfather Larry. He spent countless hours with his grandparents, who lived just a few blocks away. When Kevin was a teenager, he and his Uncle Randy built a rocket named USS Kevin that went up and never came down.
After graduating from Foothill High School in 1992, he graduated from Wyoming Technology Auto Body Mechanics. He worked as a forklift operator at various warehouses around Kern County.
Kevin was happiest when he was with his family and friends. He loved talking about science with his cousin Travis. He enjoyed discussing movies and painting War Hammer figures with his friend Jed. Kevin spoiled his adopted nieces and nephews. Everyone who knew Kevin, loved him.
Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Harry Sims, and stepfather, Larry Mena. He is survived by his mother Edith Mena, his siblings William, Kristie, Angie, Ashley, and Sam, and numerous aunts and uncles.
The viewing is Monday, September 26, at Basham's Funeral Care on Niles from 5 pm to 8 pm. Services will be held at Basham on Tuesday, September 27 at 10 am, with graveside services at the South Kern Cemetery in Arvin at 11:30 am. The reception will be held at the Living Waters Assembly of God Church in Lamont.
