Kevin Smith

CELEBRATION OF LIFE

Kevin Smith was born on January 16, 1959, and passed away on Monday, December 1, 2025 at the age of 66. Kevin transitioned peacefully, with his beloved wife and family members by his side. Kevin was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He was educated in the New Orleans Public School System and was a proud graduate and Alumni of McDonogh #35 Senior High School. Kevin retired from the Orleans Parish Public School System where he was employed as a HVAC Maintenance Technician for over 30 years.

Kevin began his walk with Christ in the early 2000's and was baptized at
the Franklin Street Church of Christ in Gretna, LA. He esteemed his church
family and enjoyed great fellowship with his brothers and sisters in Christ.
Kevin was a man of great joy, warmth, and genuine kindness. He was easy to get along with and friendly with all those he met. Kevin was a very "sharp dresser" with a keen eye for style and color coordination. He was often complimented on his attire, from his head down to his toes. Kevin possessed a kind heart and a spirit of gratitude. He sincerely appreciated the love shown by others and was extremely thankful to God for his many, many blessings.

Kevin was preceded in death by his father and mother, the late Anderson W. Smith and June Forstall Smith; his caring mother-in-law, Gloria Mae Garrett Mundy; brothers, Charles Smith and Anthony Smith; and sister, Sybil Hayes (James I. Hayes Jr.).

Kevin leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 18 wonderful years, Jacqueline Mundy Smith; children, Kevin Smith, June Smith, and Keiara Smith; brother, Mark Smith (Nina Smith); sister, Velda S. Wiltz (Dr. C.J. Wiltz); grandchildren, and a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in law, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Special thanks to Murray Henderson funeral home, the doctors, nurses and staff of West Jefferson Medical Center, DaVita Westbank at Home Center, the faculty and staff at Alice Harte Charter School (Inspire NOLA), the minister, elders, and members of the Franklin
Street Church of Christ, and Restlawn Park Cemetery and Mausoleum.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend Kevin's Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 10:00 AM, at Franklin Street Church of Christ, 431 Franklin Street, Gretna, LA 70053, with Pastor Emmitt Collins officiating.

The Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM.

The Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery and Mausoleum, Avondale, LA 70094.
