It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kevin Cornelius Young Sr., who departed this life on July 14, 2025, just six days before his 54th birthday.
Born on July 20, 1971, in Rochester, New York, Kevin was raised in the nearby community of Hilton, where he attended Hilton High School. He then went on to further his education achieving his Masters Degree. A man of many passions, Kevin found joy in life's simple pleasures: making music, playing baseball, casting a fishing line, and above all, spending quality time with his family.
Kevin's love for music was more than a hobby, it was a soulful expression of who he was. Whether it was playing piano, singing along to his favorite songs, or sharing his gift with loved ones, he brought joy and rhythm to those around him. Kevin had a passion for cooking and especially loved spending time at the grill. He took great joy in preparing delicious meals and long lasting memories. A loyal Cowboys fan, Kevin was not afraid of a little friendly competition, which he loved to show through playing Madden with friends and family. A lifelong fan of the game, Kevin also loved baseball, as a player, coach, and a spectator, always cheering on his kids and reliving the golden moments of seasons past.
Kevin's proudest title was that of father and family man. His warmth, sense of humor, and deep love were felt by all who knew him.
Kevin is survived by his children, Kevin (Dana) Young Jr., Alyssa Young, Elisha (Ryan) Scheg, Leyah Young, Derek Young, Chrissy Young; his Grandchildren; his parents Julian and Ernestine Young; his siblings Jay Young, Sonya (Robert) Jones, Brian Young, Gaycia Young, James Young, Achaz Young, and Amyschia Young. Who will carry his memory forward with love and gratitude. Kevin's legacy lives on in the music he played and the laughter he shared.
A public service will be held by the family.
Calling hours will be held at Miller Funeral Home, on Monday, July 28, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. 3225 S Winton Road, Rochester NY 14623.
A funeral service will be held following calling hours, July 28, 2025, 3:00 p.m. at Faith Church, 1876 Elmwood Ave, Rochester, NY 14620.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Kevin's memory by loving one another, expressing forgiveness, and cherishing each and every day.
He will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
