Obituary of Kim T Diggs
Kim T. Diggs was born on September 24, 1963, in Camden, NJ to the late Matthew Diggs and Irene Curtis. Kim was the youngest of her 6 siblings. From childhood Kim has always had a big personality and a vibrant spirit. She enjoyed making others laugh and many enjoyed being in her company. After a tough battle with Ovarian Cancer, God decided to call Kim home to rest peacefully in his arms on December 1, 2023.
Kim received her formal education through the Camden City School District where she graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, as a member of the Class of 1981. For many years, Kim worked in the healthcare field where she loved caring for others. In her later years, Kim decided to make a career change and became a devoted construction worker with Local Union 77. Kim later retired in 2013 due to her first battle with cancer. Kim has always had a passion for caring and giving to others. She would often say that "giving" was her love language and she always expressed it immensely to others whenever they were in need. Among her many passions, cooking was her favorite. She was affectionately known for her sautéed crabs and seafood and was known to have some of the best crabs in the South Jersey area. Kim's culinary skills were top notch, she could provide a variety of food and it was enjoyed by all. Kim had a large following of customers who were loyal and supported her passion until the very end. She loved her customers like family because with their dedication that is what they truly became. Kim always dreamed of opening her own restaurant and with the help of her brother and sister, she co-founded Irene's Place in Collingswood. Although, it was a recent accomplishment it was one that made her heart proud.
Kim's adventurous spirit led her to travel widely. She enjoyed traveling to various islands with her family as well as her friends Lazet, Cindy, and Tina. Kim prided herself on working hard but also vacationed even harder with cruises and countless Caribbean views. Kim was a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan and would often attend the NFL Pro Bowl Game. It was her Sunday ritual to watch her Eagles fly high. In her quiet time, she found joy in relaxing with a good book while listening to gospel music and watching various TV series. In everything she did, she would always incorporate family and friends, whether it was cooking for family dinners, going to amusement parks, picking up all the kids in her family to take them sledding, or going to see a concert. If it was with family and friends, that was where she wanted to be.
Kim will truly be missed by all, from her bright smile, infectious laugh, and her great sense of humor which was all one of a kind. Kim is survived by her devoted daughter, Tareema Redd, and loving grandchildren, Aayonni and Brianna Redd. She is remembered as a dear sister to Trudy Pegues, Matthew Diggs (Virginia), and Mervin Curtis (Diane), and was preceded in death by her siblings Rosalind Diggs and Samuel Braxton. Kim is also cherished by her special niece Precious Pease (Gregory), her best friend of 50 years Cindy, her dear friends Radee, Tina, Hope, and Helen, and a host of other relatives and friends that she cherished so greatly.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation and Funeral on Friday, December 8, 2023 from 9 to 11 AM at The Kroc Center Camden, 1865 Harrison Ave. Camden, NJ where a Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM. Entombment will follow at Harleigh Mausoleum in Camden.
