Kimberly "Kim" Jan Henshaw, a cherished soul, completed her earthly journey and entered into eternal rest on September 21, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on July 25, 1956, in
Harrisburg, Illinois, to the late Bob and Opal (Chrisman) Simpson, Kim's life was a testament to the virtues of love, generosity, and spirited devotion.
A lifelong resident of Illinois, Kim was a beacon of warmth and care in her community. After attending Harrisburg High School, she embraced the fulfilling role of a homemaker, a vocation she performed with grace and dedication. Kim's home was an abode of kindness, where she nurtured her beloved son Chris Hyers (Robin), and stepdaughters Penny Lane and Heather Carey (Joe) along with their families. Her brothers Gary (Val), Jeff, and Greg (Patti) Simpson, and sisters Robbie and the late Mike Vargo and Debbie (Gary) Stevens, will miss her deeply, as will her treasured grandchildren Aaron Davis, Autumn Moore, and Isabella Hyers, and her adored great-grandchild Embrie Moore as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Kim was predeceased by her devoted husband, J.B. Henshaw, yet their love remains an enduring legacy.
Kim's Christian faith was the cornerstone of her existence. She lived a life rich in faith and fellowship, embodying the teachings of Christ through her actions and words. Her commitment to her religion was unwavering, and she found great solace and joy in the practice of her beliefs.
In the kitchen, Kim was an artist, and her culinary creations were the heart of many family gatherings. Her exceptional cooking brought comfort and joy to countless family and friends, creating memories that will be cherished forever. For over a quarter of a century, Kim also extended her generosity beyond her family, baking cookies for the children at the Illinois Youth Center, touching the lives of many with her sweet kindness.
Kim's spirit was characterized by her loving nature, her boundless generosity, and her lively energy. She had the rare ability to uplift those around her, and her presence was a source of strength and happiness. Her spirit, now free, leaves a legacy of love that will continue to inspire and guide her family and all who knew her.
As we bid farewell to Kimberly Henshaw, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a journey completed with faith and love. Her memory will be a blessing to all, and her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those she touched. Kim's life was a reflection of the Christian virtues she held dear, and she will be profoundly missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have felt the warmth of her embrace.
We take comfort in knowing that Kim is now rejoined with her beloved husband and parents in the kingdom of Heaven, where joy and peace are everlasting. Her life was a living example of the Scripture, "Well done, good and faithful servant... enter thou into the joy of thy lord." (Matthew 25:21). May she rest in the eternal love of our Lord.
