Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jones & Casey Funeral Home - Salmon on Jun. 19, 2024.
Kimberly "Kimmy, Kim Bob, Kimberlina" D. Olson (Koeppen) was born in
Caldwell, Idaho, on August 27, 1972 and passed away on June 17, 2024, in
Blackfoot, Idaho, at the age of 51.
Kim added love, happiness, and the right amount of sass to every occasion. Kim
loved her family and truly lived for the success of those around her. Kim opened
her heart to any and everyone, she loved celebrating the special things and
always remembered the little things. She was a hard worker who always pushed
others to be their best. Her passions included horses, time spent with family, and
multiple creative hobbies along with her garden and landscaping. No one loved
and supported those around her as fiercely as Kim did.
Kim attended the College of Southern Idaho and Boise State University. She
primarily worked as a program coordinator and grant writer for multiple non-profit
organizations in the Salmon area. Her two biggest passion projects were helping
get the Steele Memorial Hospital built in Salmon and being the director of the
Lemhi's After School Program. She was instrumental in writing grants for these
endeavors to ensure these programs were a continued success.
In her free time, Kim enjoyed cooking for large groups and hosting backyard
barbecues, spending time with her river family, helping her daughter and
granddaughter participate in rodeo events, and indulging in all things related to
horses. She also loved decorating her home for holidays throughout the year.
Kim recently began doing professional photography again and you would often
find her behind the camera, no matter the occasion. Kim loved her sodiees from
Pick Me Up and didn't buy much that wasn't on sale or that she didn't have a
coupon for- a long standing joke in the family.
Her passing comes as a great shock and a deep wound, and it is gravely felt by
her entire family and countless others who loved her deeply in her wide-network
of community. The family deeply appreciates your support during this difficult time
and asks that you make contributions to Lemhi's Afterschool Promise in her
name in lieu of flowers.
She is survived by her husband, Mark, her children BreAnna (Travis) Koerner,
Koty (Cheyenne) Olson, and Dustin Olson, along with her bonus daughter
Chelsea Phillips, her mother, Joyce (Joe) Caywood and father, Kent (Shawna)
Koeppen, and her siblings Kurtis (Krista) Koeppen and Jody Koeppen. Kim's
favorite title was "Gigi" to her grandchildren Charlie and Dutton Koerner, and her
bonus grandkids, Wesson Bowen and Huxley Phillips. She is also survived by
many other relatives and close friends, and her beloved dog "Little Girl".
Kim was preceded in death by family members including her grandparents and
her first granddaughter, Kinsley Rae Koerner was waiting for her at Heaven's
gates.
A Celebration of Life for Kim will be held at the Salmon Elks Lodge this Saturday,
June 22, 2024, at 1pm, with graveside services to follow. Prior to the service,
there will be a public viewing from 9-11am at Jones and Casey Funeral Home.
