Wayne White Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jones & Casey Funeral Home - Salmon on Feb. 6, 2026.
Wayne Albert White was born on September 10, 1943, in Holdenville, Oklahoma. In 1949, he moved to Lindsay, California, where he grew up. After graduating from Lindsay High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy on July 26, 1963, serving as a firefighter and crash salvage crewman, earning multiple honor-- including the Vietnam Service Medal. On June 8, 1968, Wayne married Shellia May Hill, and together raised four children: Raymond, Tammy, Connie, and Mike. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Cletus White, siblings: Bobby, Paula, Danny, Leon and children Raymond and Connie. He survived by his children, Tammy Smith and Mike White, brother Stephen, sisters Phyllis, Jean, and Nancy, Cousin Buddy Sweeden, grandchildren Michael Wayne Gilbert, Daniel Cauthon, Catherine Cauthon, Joshua Gilbert, Robert Cauthon, and many great-grandchildren.

When Wayne helped his brother Danny move to Elk Bend, Idaho, he fell in love with it and moved there, never wishing to return to California. He enjoyed talking to Russell his nephew everyday as well as hunting, skeet shooting, and ensured his family had guns and ammo, even teaching his daughter Tammy to reload her own ammo. No matter how far or grown his children were, he was always there to help. Above all, Wayne was a devoted family man. His legacy of love and service lives on.
