Kimberly Michelle Matthewson-McLean, daughter of the late Glennie Matthewson and Arlyce Burton, was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on September 15, 1966. After a long illness, she departed this life on October 25, 2024.
Kimberly graduated from Randallstown High School, and then attended North Carolina Central University where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work. She went on to pursue her Master's Degree in Psychology at the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
Kim's professional journey began at Carefirst Blue Cross, where she formed lasting friendships and demonstrated her deep passion for helping others. This dedication guided her work with Baltimore City and the State in Foster Care and Child Protective Services, where she made a meaningful impact on many lives. After her time in public service, Kim continued her commitment to supporting others through various human resources roles in the private sector. In her retirement, she focused on her health and cherished the moments spent with family and friends, creating memories that will live on in our hearts. Kim's legacy of compassion and love will always be remembered.
She is survived by: her husband David McLean; her mother Arlyce Burton and step-father Hugh Burton; her daughter Teena and granddaughter Riah; brothers David Trevan and Levi Smith; stepbrother Steven Burton (Heather); stepsisters Brenda Burton and Sacha Burton; goddaughter Cari Williams; aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
A viewing for Mrs. Matthewson-McLean will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024, from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Vaughn Greene Funeral Services, 8728 Liberty Road, Randallstown, MD 21133.
On Saturday, November 9, 2024, a homegoing celebration for Mrs. Kimberly Matthewson-McLean will be held at New Metropolitan Baptist Church, where the family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 10:30 am. with services to follow.
Immediately following services, the Interment will be held at Druid Ridge Cemetery.
