Kimberly Ann Smith, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, teacher, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025, at her home in Arlington, Texas, surrounded by those she loved most.
Born on April 29, 1964, in Biloxi, Mississippi, to Troy Eugene Bowman and Margarett Ann Bowman, Kimberly was raised in Arlington, Texas, where she built lifelong roots and relationships. She was a proud graduate of Arlington High School, Class of 1982, and remained deeply connected to the community throughout her life.
Kimberly was a woman of faith, passion, and purpose. A lifelong member of the Church of Christ, her faith guided every chapter of her life. Most recently, Kimberly and her husband Bob were active members of Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ, where they found fellowship and spiritual encouragement.
A gifted and published writer, Kimberly had a deep love for words and learning. She found joy in writing, painting, teaching, and inspiring others. One of her most treasured roles was as "Mimi," where she created a homeschool environment for her grandchildren lovingly called "Mimi School." Teaching was not just something Kimberly did-it was who she was.
Kimberly was a passionate advocate for others, especially within the cancer community. After bravely beating breast cancer in 2010, she devoted herself to researching standards of care for cancer patients and helping others navigate their own journeys. She even started a YouTube channel and hosted a podcast focused on cancer research and awareness, using her voice to educate, encourage, and empower.
On October 5, 2002, Kimberly married Bob Smith, and together they built a life grounded in faith, love, and service. Faith, family, and friends were the foundation of everything Kimberly stood for. She was known for her intense and passionate personality-fully committed to whatever she put her heart into. She was intentional, warm, welcoming, and always saw the good in people. Her home was always open, and she carried a true servant's heart.
Kimberly loved the beach, especially 30A in Florida, and cherished time spent creating memories with her family. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and traditions like cookies and cocoa brought her immense joy. She was a true people person, deeply invested in community, relationships, and meaningful connection. One of her favorite sayings, which perfectly captured her spirit, was:
"All the way, right away, the happy way."
Kimberly's family meant everything to her. She was a devoted wife, a loving and encouraging mother, and a joyful grandmother whose presence brought laughter, wisdom, and comfort. Her legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched with compassion, faith, and love.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Smith; her daughter, Carolyn Woodworth and husband Richard; her sons, Troy Phelps and wife Elizabeth, and Zachary Phelps and wife Vanessa; and her 10 cherished grandchildren.
