Kimberly Anne (Fleming) Sutfin of Freeville, NY (Formerly of Canton, PA) passed away on February 28th, 2025 at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, NY surrounded by her loving family.
Kimberly was born on March 23rd 1964 in Blossburg PA to the late Robert and Donnalee (Hart) Fleming. She grew up in Canton, PA where she graduated from Canton Area High School in 1982. She then attended Elmira Business Institute, where she became a Certified Medical Transcriptionist. She worked as a transcriptionist for 30 years at Dr. James Grue Optometry in Canton, PA, Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA, Guthrie Clinic in Ithaca, NY and at home with Silent Type Inc. out of Fort Lee, NJ. She was a hard worker and enjoyed the knowledge she gained in the medical field.
Kim enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She was an avid sports fan and supported the New York Yankees, Green Bay Packers, and in her younger years was a big basketball fan. She loved attending sporting events with her family. She was also a fan of all kinds of music, and thoroughly enjoyed going to concerts, seeing many shows across New York and Pennsylvania especially at the New York State Fair. She loved life and put a smile on so many faces everywhere she went. She loved to read, watch movies and tv, and loved playing board games with her loved ones. Kim also loved a good sale and shopping at thrift stores and yard sales. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend, and would do anything for her friends and family.
In 2018, she was diagnosed with metastatic thyroid cancer. She fought a hard battle for almost seven years, and never let the disease define her. She fought with grace, relying on her steadfast faith in God and the support of her friends and family. She received several treatments from Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York City and Cayuga Cancer Center in Ithaca NY, making an impact on the doctors and nurses who treated her. She was a model patient and was lovingly cared for at home by her husband and son.
Kim is survived by her loving husband of 30 years Don Sutfin, children Troy Sutfin, Joe Sutfin, John (Allyssa) Sutfin all of Freeville NY, Heather (Brad) Sawyers of Ranson, WV, Sisters Robin Dingler of Ithaca, NY, LuAnn (Gary) Paugh of Friedens, PA, Michelle (Mark) Ling of Somerset PA, nieces Madison Dingler and Jessica Pauquette, nephew Craig "CJ" McKnight, son at heart Craig Basl, and several other nieces, nephews, in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
She was predeceased by her dad, Darwin Morgan, Grandparents George and Christina Hart, and P.F. and Helen Fleming, special cousin Al Spencer, Aunt Grace (Finnerty) Spencer and Uncle Gearld Spencer, as well as many other loved family members.
A celebration of life for Kim will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Kim's honor can be made to the Cancer Resource Center of the Finger Lakes, 840 Hanshaw Road, Suite 5, Ithaca, NY 14850
