Kimberly "Kim" Patrice Young, 60, of Hustle, VA entered eternal rest, on May 1, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Peter C. Young Sr., and Thelma Louise Young.
At a young age, Kim dedicated her life to Christ and was baptized at First Baptist Church, Loretto, VA. For years, Kim's voice lifted hearts in the church choir, and her generous spirit even led to introducing her sister Gayle to the man who would become her husband-a quiet act that changed a life forever.
Kim was a proud graduate of the 1983 class of Essex High School, a class that she remained close with the remainder of her life. After graduating high school, Kim attended Old Dominion University, graduating in May 1987, with a bachelor's degree in social work. For many years, Kim tirelessly worked at the City of Henrico Department of Social Services and City of Fredericksburg Department of Social Services.
Even as the youngest in the family, Kim selflessly became her mother's full-time caregiver, giving up her own apartment and returning home-driven by love, not obligation, to be there every step of the way. When Kim wasn't busy taking care of her mother, she could be found curled up reading a good book or completing word searches. Additionally, Kim loved to cook and bake and never hesitated to share whatever she made. Despite the Dallas Cowboys not winning a Superbowl since 1996, Kim was a diehard fan and would root for them even when they did not deserve her cheers.
Kim nailed the role of "auntieing" and was actively involved in all of her nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews' lives. She attended birthday parties, sports games, graduations, special events, and just about everything in between. When living in Richmond, she would host her nieces for the weekend just to spend time with them. Kim could tell you countless tales of her nieces and nephews and never hesitated to express just how proud she was of them. In 2019, Kim started dating Chris Schiavone, a man who brought so much joy, love and laughter into her life. Kim was predeceased by her father Peter, sisters Faye and Gayle, and brothers Elliott and Pete.
Kim leaves behind to cherish her memory, her mother, Thelma Louise; sister, Marilyn; brother in law Marcellus Dungee; nephews, Mickey, Andre and Chris; nieces, Anita, Danielle, Andrea, Daphne, Michelle, Staci and Apriel; great- nieces, LaTavia, London, Mayson, Maliyah and Mariah; great-nephews, Thomas, Camden, Caeden, Maxwell, Mason and Christian; cousin-friends, Doris Gaskins and Sheron Henry; significant other, Chris Schiavone; bonus brother, William Rich; close friends, Patricia Hedgemon, Sharon Hooper and Shelia Minor, and a multitude of additional friends and extended family members.
A memorial service will be held 5pm Friday, May 9, 2025, at the Revival Fire Outreach Center, 323 Prince St., Tappahannock, VA 22560. Interment will be private.
