Kirby A. Peterson, age 70, of Merrill, WI, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2025, at his home, under the care of his family and Aspirus Hospice. Kirby was born in Merrill, WI, on January 3, 1955, to the late Ralph and Mary Lou (Paxton) Peterson. He was married to Cherie Bricco on August 2, 1991; she survives.

Kirby attended the Merrill School District and served in the United States Army. He returned to Merrill where he worked as a truck driver for Merrill Distributing and also spent two years commercial fishing in Alaska. Kirby took great pride in tending to his home and lawn and was admired for keeping such a beautiful yard; this included taking care of the many trees he planted on the property. A family man, his number one priority was providing and caring for his family. He went above and beyond to ensure his son's home was cared for also. He was a loving grandpa who cherished the time spent with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of over 31 years, Cherie; his sons, Shannon (Brenda Laurie), Josh, and Derek (Virginia); his brothers, Steve and Matt; and his sisters, Jean, Jane, Julie, Jan, Jenny, Jackie, and Jody. He is further survived by six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Kirby was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Mary Lou; and his brother, Russell.

In accordance with wishes, no formal services will be held. Generations Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family.
