Gueydan-A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Gueydan honoring the life of Kirby Paul Trahan, 71, who died Monday, February 26, 2024. Reverend Corey Campeaux will officiate the services.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home in Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Ave., on Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 8:00 AM until the procession departs for church at 12:30 PM with a rosary being prayed at 10:00 AM.
Born on December 4, 1952, Kirby found immense joy in the company of his friends, particularly during those cherished lunches at Johnny's where he shared laughter and camaraderie with the boys. A man of unwavering faith, he began each Sunday with a 7:00 AM mass, finding solace and strength in his spiritual connection.
Family was the center of his world, and his Sundays were incomplete without the warmth of visits from his daughters. He also loved to soak up the infectious energy of his 5-year-old grandson, Little Kersey, who lovingly bossed him around, bringing such amusement to their time together. Riding the country roads with his sons, engaging in heartfelt conversations about life, was another passion he held dear.
Kirby's favorite entertainment pastimes included attending Saints football games and watching Texas Metal and Yellowstone.
A passionate and dedicated rice farmer, he defied the odds and displayed resilience after a stroke years ago. Doctors doubted his ability to return to rice farming, but Kirby proved them wrong, demonstrating a determination and strength that inspired all who knew him.
He was a perfectionist at heart, although those close to him knew that he was habitually late for everything. It became a source of endearment to those who loved him. Despite being a man of few words, when Kirby spoke, his words carried weight and his actions spoke volumes. He was a man true to his word.
He is survived by his wife, Robin Langlois Trahan of Gueydan; his daughters, Karey Trahan Theriot and her husband Carlton of Gueydan, and Kelly Trahan Duplechain and her husband Chad of Broussard; his sons, Kersey Paul Trahan II and his wife Kellie of Gueydan, and Kirby Paul Trahan Jr. and his wife Stephany of Kaplan; his stepdaughters, Jamie Ray Langlois of Gueydan and Dusty Marie Chenevert of Erwinville; his grandchildren, Sierra Lejeune, Grant Theriot, Kadyn Talley, Kasyn Talley, Kersey Trahan III, Sarah Trahan, and Madisyn Summer; and step-grandchildren, Nicholas Thayer, Ayden Miller, Elizabeth Langlois, Donovan Luent; and step greatgrandchildren, Annabella LeBlanc, Maggie LeBlanc, and Xavier LeBlanc.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kersey and Vellen Trahan; grandparents, Victorian and Clixte Primeaux; and grandson, Tyler Shace Theriot.
