Kirsten Dieckhoff Obituary
Kirsten Marie Dieckhoff passed away on November 21, 2025, in Wilmington, North Carolina. She was born on October 31, 1989, in Cambridge, Minnesota-though despite her Halloween birthday, her favorite holiday was Christmas. As a child she moved to Cottage Grove, Wisconsin, and later attended Monona Grove High School, where she participated in band. After graduating in 2008, she studied at MATC and went on to manage offices in a law firm, a tax company, and Concordia University.
In 2007, while selling Milk Duds and popcorn at Eastgate Cinemas, Kirsten met a fellow employee, Scott Dieckhoff. The two married on June 20, 2013, in Cambridge, Minnesota, and built a life grounded in companionship, humor, and deep devotion.
Kirsten was overjoyed to become a mother to her son, Mason, in 2015, and her daughter, Rylee, in 2017. She was a loving, patient, and gentle mother who cherished taking her children on walks and visiting apple orchards in Wisconsin. Nothing meant more to her than raising her babies, and she dedicated her life to caring for them. Mason and Rylee were her greatest joy.
Kirsten found purpose in caring for others and served as a devoted caregiver to her mother during her cancer diagnosis. After the loss of both of her parents in 2018, she and Scott sought a fresh start and warmer climate. They moved to Wilmington, North Carolina-a place Kirsten had visited and loved as a child. She felt at home by the ocean, with sand beneath her feet and salt in the air. Some of her most treasured moments were spent watching Mason and Rylee play at the beach.
Kirsten loved Kit Kats, One Tree Hill, and Hilary Duff movies. She had a green thumb that brought life to many plant "babies," and she cooked with instinct and heart. She was an exceptional gift giver, always finding thoughtful, meaningful items for the people she loved.
Kirsten was preceded in death by her parents, Gale (Jones) Nigbor and Karl Nigbor, and by her grandparents Melvin and Diane Jones and William and Frances Nigbor. She is survived by her husband, Scott Dieckhoff; their children, Mason and Rylee; and her beloved cats Breezy, Roxy, and Hera.
Kirsten fought bravely against addiction for many years. While those who love her are heartbroken by her loss, they take comfort in knowing she has finally found the peace she long sought.
