It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Korey Jon Leavitt, who left this world on June 10, 2025, at the age of 55. Born on January 30, 1970, in Tooele, Utah, Korey lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a remarkable spirit that touched everyone he encountered.
Korey was the cherished son of Stephen Udell Leavitt and Janice Kay (Johnson) Leavitt. He is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved brother, Kaydell Duane Leavitt. Korey is survived by his loving sister, Debra Janice Jorgensen, and his brothers, Stephen Douglas Leavitt and Jason Scott Leavitt. He also leaves behind a vibrant family that includes six nieces, along with ten great-nephews and ten great-nieces who will forever cherish the moments they spent with him.
A dedicated worker, Korey devoted much of his life to various roles, including his time at Grand Teton Lodge Company as a Kitchen Utility worker, followed by his position in General Labor at Deseret Industries. His 20-year achievement as a Kitchen Steward at the Lion House stands testament to his commitment and hard work.
Korey was not only committed to his work but also to his community and faith. A proud member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he fondly volunteered in the nursery alongside his mother and in the library with his brother Doug, sharing his kindness and positive spirit with those around him.
In addition to his community involvement, Korey had an adventurous side that shone brightly through his participation in skiing, swimming, bowling, basketball, and track and field events at the Special Olympics. He embraced every challenge, inspiring others with his easy-going nature and determination. Korey was known for his love of life and his ability to bring joy to others, particularly in the way he spoiled his nieces, always ensuring they felt special and loved.
Korey passed away in South Salt Lake, Utah, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, warmth, and an unwavering spirit that will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His memory will live on not only in the hearts of his family and friends but also in the lives he touched throughout his journey.
As we say goodbye to Korey Jon Leavitt, we celebrate his life and the love he shared. May he rest in peace, knowing he was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
