Kristin Lea Strasser, 41, died Wednesday, November 19, 2025, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born December 9, 1983, in Garden City, Kansas, the daughter of Mark & Judy (Rome) Strasser.
Kristin grew up in Garden City where she attended Garden City schools and graduated from Garden City High School in 2002. She attended Garden City Community College for 1 year. She then attended the University of Kansas, where she earned a Bachelor's degree, and 2011 earned a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology. Kristin continued to live in Lawrence and worked for several years as a mental health therapist. In 2019, Kristin moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado and has lived there since.
Kristin's hobbies include her love for animals, especially Chinchillas, growing plants, collecting fiesta wear, and loved hiking and being outdoors in nature.
Survivors include her husband Matthew Hoerman of the home; her parents Mark & Judy Strasser of Garden City; a brother David Strasser of Garden City; her aunts and uncles Fr. John Strasser of Garden City, Mary Sue Strasser of Garden City, Steve Strasser (Kim Goetting) of Garden City, Susan Brandon of High Ridge, Missouri, Ellen Rome of Garden City, Kathy Rome of Garden City, Karen Lortie (Dale) of Centennial Colorado, & Brian Rome (Pilar) of Denver, Colorado; and many cousins. Kristin is preceded in death by her grandparents Leo & Eleanor Strasser and Anton & Muriel Rome; and an uncle James Rome.
A Vigil Service & Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at St. Dominic Church in Garden City. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m.on Thursday, December 4, 2025, also at St. Dominic Catholic Church with Fr. Ben Green and Fr. John Strasser as Celebrants. A private family burial will take place at a later date at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. There will be no calling hours. The family suggests memorials given to the Emmaus House in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 412 N. 7th St., Garden City, Kansas 67846. Condolences may be given at garnandfuneralhomes.com.
